Autobox launch new multi function box maker

Short run box making machinery specialists, Autobox Ltd of Leighton Buzzard, UK, have added a new box maker to their range — the Pak Master 2800.

Aimed at sheet plants requiring ultimate flexibility to produce a wide variety of FEFCO styles and board grades, the machine can work with either cut to size blanks or stock sheets up to 2.8 x 10m in length. Board grades from single to triple wall can be handled. With the ability of producing ‘multi out’ blanks from stock sheet, through put speeds from typically 500 per hour one up to 1500 per hour 3-up can be achieved. Off cuts are unmarked enabling trim board to be used for other jobs.

The built-in computer with simple to use touch screen, enables quick set up times and stores previously run jobs for easy recall. Interchangeable tooling including slot and cutting/scoring knives, creasing bars and tooling for simple die-cuts are all fitted without the need for setting tools. The software provides all setting data and automatically resets the CNC control system.

Designed with easy access to re-set tooling, the machine is robustly constructed to withstand the rigours of a modern sheet plant environment. Latest technology servo drives will ensure a long machine life with minimal maintenance.

Standard options include scissor lift in-feed, flexo print stations for single colour print and take off conveyors with stacking.

The first Pak Master 2800 has been installed at Red Rose Packaging Ltd based in Stockport, UK. Replacing beam slotters and rotary slitters, the machine is also freeing up printer slotters and casemakers from short run work. It is also provides Red Rose Ltd with the opportunity to seek other work including producing triple wall boxes, a capability previously not possible.

Comments Barry Tabor, Managing Director of Autobox Ltd, “The Pak Master 2800 is a versatile box making machine. It very much compliments the existing Autobox machines, retaining our ‘quick set up time’ philosophy coupled with the ability to produce an even greater range of FEFCO styles. We wanted to be able to give our customers a machine with which they can win higher margin and added value work in what is becoming an increasingly competitive market place. For sheet plants who want to focus on margin over volume, this is a machine that will give them a real competitive edge and still enjoy a quick return on their capital investment.”
